Lips have been a category our customers have requested for years. Our biggest struggle was to think of a way to enter the lip world in a way that was true to our brand and not just another generic lip product you can find anywhere. We knew tinted lip balms would be the most "on brand" thing for us to start with. However, a big gripe we had when it came to lip products was that even "sheer" lip balms often looked too saturated, vivid, or stark on the lips. Additionally, we just aren't fans of super thick, glossy, goopy lip balms. 
 
Calm Conditions was designed to be our version of a goldilocks lip balm. We created this formula with ingredients like vegan lanolin and beeswax alternatives, lipo-amino acids, and murumuru butter that help nourish, soften, and improve elasticity in lips over time. Texturally, it applies as a super elastic, cushiony layer that does not feel oily, thick, or sticky. This is not like the one swipe, glossy balms that you see everywhere right now. This takes some time to work onto the lips, but it builds up into a beautiful barrier that you will love.
 
Shade wise, they are not vibrant, punchy, vivid tones. The shades were all created to be very lip-adjacent, "no need to think about it" colours that flatter a wide array of skin and lip colours. Combined with the plush texture, the tinted shades melt into the lips and look so naturally bouncy, hydrated, and perfectly tinted.
 
Purpose: A stick lip balm that provides rich nourishment in a variety of sheer shades designed to be "my lips but better" tones that aren't too vivid or saturated. 
 
Texture & Finish: A gelled wax that melts into a plush, grippy, and cushiony layer that hugs the lips. Becomes one with the lips, so there is no distinct layer of pigmented "stuff" that sits on top of the lips. Provides very natural hydrated luminosity, without looking heavy, thick, or overly glossy/goopy. If you like hyper shiny and pigmented lip products - this is not it. 
 
Tips & Directions: 
The first few uses will feel a little waxier and take more passes to melt onto the lips. Once the top layer has been worked through, the lip balm will melt, layer, and glide on much easier.
Twist up the stick the smallest amount when using it to minimize risk of breakage during use. Gentle gliding motions work best. No need to drag and press hard.
If you're someone who likes to swatch things, the lip balms swatch much easier once they've been broken into and used on the lips. Tugging them brand new across the skin to swatch them can lead to higher risk of breakage
 
Shade Descriptions:
 
Clear Coast: an untinted, clear shade. The most moisturizing out of the bunch, due to the fact you can just layer and layer this on without looking crazy. A delightful day to day lip balm, or lay it on heavier for nighttime. If you have pale lips but want to dabble in using a deeper tinted shade, layering it on top of a base of Clear Coast can help sheer the colour out beautifully. 
 
Tender Tides: a gentle, neutral rosewater tone that does not run too pale or milky. For those with lighter skin and lips, this is a very easy "don't need to think about it" colour to swipe on.
 
Soft Swells: a slightly muted, dusty pink with hints of mauve. The coolest shade out of the bunch, but far from being a true cool blue or grey based tone.
 
Warm Waves: a lightly toasted cinnamon tone. Provides warmth without being overly vibrant. A great "if my lips could blush" kind of colour.
 
Brave Break: a neutral rosewood tone. Brown-adjacent tone that isn't too cool, and not very yellow heavy. If you have very pale lips, this can become quite dramatic if you layer it up a lot. But sheered out for a cosmetic tint or layered on top of Clear Coast for more moisture, and it becomes a very wearable, rosy-brown tint even for the lightest skin and lip tones.
 
Made and handpoured as always by us in Vancouver, BC. If you see a small air bubble or two in the stick - that's normal and what happens when you don't use big machinery to fill lip balm molds.
